Lindsay, May 24, 2006 The Ross Memorial Hospital’s Cardiac Rehabilitation program is hosting the Walk of Life on Wednesday May 31st 2006. This is the third time the program has taken part in this national event initiated by the Canadian Cardiac Rehabilitation Foundation (CCRF). While part of a national event, all funds raised locally stay with Ross Memorial’s Cardiac Rehabilitation program. This year, local artist Charles Leung has donated one of his paintings to serve as the prize for the top fundraiser. According to Leung, the title of the painting “Life in Harmony” symbolizes how life improves for participants of the Cardiac Rehabilitation program. Ross Memorial’s Walk of Life 2006 aims to raise $10,000 to help purchase a new heart monitor system. This system will allow staff to screen clients for unhealthy heart rhythms during exercise. This year, the Walk of Life is pleased to offer online donations for walkers and those wishing to make a pledge. To make an online donation, visit the Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation website at www.rmh.org/foundation and hit the ‘Donate Now’ button on the right hand side of the screen. It will automatically direct you to a giving page where you can direct your donation in the fund designation section for “Walk of Life 2006”. If you would like to attribute your gift to a specific walker, you may add their name in the message section at the bottom of the giving page. Walking is a proven way to keep your heart healthy. Cardiac Rehabilitation specialists prescribe walking as a way for heart attack patients to lead an active lifestyle. Ross Memorial Hospital’s Walk of Life is open to the entire community. Simply pick up a pledge sheet from the program and bring it back with the money collected on walk day.
