Ross Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce the appointment to its medical staff of Dr. Charles Noronha as an Orthopaedic Surgeon.

Dr. Noronha comes to Kawartha Lakes from Gander Newfoundland.  There he practiced orthopaedic surgery at James Paton Memorial Hospital.  This Hospital is an affiliated teaching hospital of Memorial University and Dr. Noronha had the unique opportunity to serve as a mentor to future orthopaedic surgeons.

Dr. Noronha said he chose to practice in Kawartha Lakes because it had great lifestyle opportunities.  “Ross Memorial Hospital was very attractive to me.  It is a wonderful facility in a great location in Ontario.”

With relatives in Toronto, Dr. Noronha felt that the location of Kawartha Lakes is the best of both worlds.  “I am close enough to Toronto to visit family, and it also gives them the opportunity to get away from the city and enjoy the beautiful setting up here,” added Noronha.  “I look forward to getting started in my work as well as enjoying all of the recreational opportunities this community has to offer.”

“Having orthopaedic services helps us to serve the needs of our growing and aging population.  We are now pleased to have not one - but two - orthopaedic surgeons available to help us address the needs in this community,” said Anthony Vines, President & CEO of Ross Memorial Hospital. “The Board of Governors, physicians and administration were all involved in this recruitment effort.  With the addition of Dr. Noronha, the Hospital’s Medical Specialist Recruitment Program has again been successful in bringing a highly skilled and qualified medical professional to serve the people of the City of Kawartha Lakes.”

Dr. Noronha agrees and credits the Hospital’s recruitment team for his arrival.  “I had a great experience dealing with the recruitment team.  Not only were they skilled at recruitment, but I felt that they really cared about me both professionally and personally.  They made sure I knew what the area had to offer and answered all of my questions.  It all helped to make my decision a little easier.”

Dr. Noronha has started his practice in a temporary location and will officially open an office in Lindsay in August.
