Telemarketers Targeting Local Businesses on Behalf of RMH PDF  | Print |

Lindsay, April 13, 2006

City of Kawartha Lakes businesses are being targeted in two separate telemarketing initiatives that misrepresent hospital involvement. The callers are seeking financial support for children in the local hospital through sponsorship of the either the "Healing Hands Busy Book" or the “Hospital Activity Book”.

Ross Memorial Hospital is not involved in these book projects, nor does it endorse or support the distribution of the book in any way.

Should a business be approached by these telemarketers, you are advised to call "Phonebusters", an Ontario Provincial Police initiative aimed at preventing telemarketing fraud. The Phonebusters telephone number is 1-888-495-8501.

The Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation and Auxiliary are the only groups authorized by the Hospital to solicit for donations, and they do not use telemarketing firms for solicitation.
