A crisis is a serious disruption of an individual's baseline level of functioning, such that his or her usual coping mechanisms are inadequate to restore equilibrium. At such time, an individual's normal coping responses are insufficient to resolve the situation, resulting in a marked increase of anxiety, tension and agitation, or depression and defeat. It is an emotionally significant event in which there may be a turning point for better or worse. A crisis may be a turning point in our life, and successful crisis resolution can lead to psychological growth and increased competence. The Crisis Response program is available to residents of the City of Kawartha Lakes who are 16 years of age or older. There is no charge for this service. How can I access crisis help?
