Ross Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce that it has been granted a 3-year Accreditation award from the Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation (CCHSA). The award was reported in an Accreditation Survey Report that detailed the Hospital’s strengths and achievements, as well as outlined recommendations and suggestions.

One statement in the Report indicated, “By participating in the accreditation process, your organization has demonstrated its commitment to providing quality care and service in your community.”

Accreditation is a detailed assessment of an organization's services and method of operation against a set of hundreds of national standards. It is also voluntary. The CCHSA has a two-step process to Accreditation. First, the organization measures its own compliance against national standards (self-assessment). Then, external surveyors review the organization by using the same national standards to independently measure the organization. The findings focus on the organization's strengths and areas of improvement. Recommendations are made to help the organization develop plans to maintain its strengths and to better meet Accreditation standards where necessary.

Anthony Vines, President and CEO, Ross Memorial Hospital is proud of the results. “I am delighted that we have been granted a three-year Accreditation award. Everyone worked hard to achieve this award and all staff, physicians and volunteers are to be congratulated not only for their dedication and commitment throughout the Accreditation process, but also every day for their commitment to our goal of providing exceptional care to the patients we serve.”

“The accreditation process, similar to the Hospital Report Card Surveys, serve as vital tools that assist us in improving the quality of care we provide and we appreciate the opportunity to have the input of others, like the CCHSA and its surveyors, ” added Vines.

Ross Memorial’s Accreditation Survey took place September 19th-21st, 2005. The next Accreditation for Ross Memorial will take place in 2008.
