Lindsay, November 16, 2005

Ross Memorial Hospital held their 2005 Long Service Awards Ceremony today. Staff members are honoured at this special awards presentation for their years of service, dedication and commitment to Ross Memorial Hospital.

This year, 30 staff members celebrated over 25 years of service, and four staff members received recognition for 35 years of service. (See Long Service Awards Ceremony Program for the names of the recipients)

Also recognized at the Ceremony were the Individual and Team recipients of the 2005 James Ross Award of Excellence. These annual peer nominated awards recognize and thank staff for their exceptional initiative in going beyond their defined role and exceeding expectations.

Winners of the Individual James Ross Awards were:
Dr. Gordon Lindsay: Physician category
Tracey Wilson: RN/RPN category
Carol Tait: Support Services category
Elaine Barry: Paramedical category
Marie Squires: Administrative category

This year’s Team Recipient was the Housekeeping Department.

The criteria of the individual awards indicates that candidates shall: be champions of change, show respect, be a team player, and show excellence by going above and beyond in all that they do. The Team award is given to those groups that demonstrate: a positive impact on the organization, can communicate across departments, have a united voice, serve as champions of change and exhibit excellence above and beyond what is required.

Muriel Jones, Director of Patient Information Services nominated the Housekeeping department for the Team award and noted, “In dealing with the many changes associated with the completion of the Hospital expansion project, the Housekeeping team have taken on the challenge of adapting to new facilities, temporary moves and renovations, with ease and a positive attitude. But in addition, patient satisfaction surveys and independent Hospital Reports indicate that the Ross is above the provincial average in the area of housekeeping and cleanliness.”
