Ross Memorial Hospital recently held a “Valentine’s Day Food Challenge” in honour of this special day. The Critical Care department issued a challenge to all RMH departments to collect non-perishable food items with the winning department having the honour of presenting the food to representatives of Kawartha Lakes Food Source. Amanda Marshall, RN of the Critical Care department organized the event. “We wanted to do this at Christmas, but it gets to busy here at that time,” said Marshall. “I thought this would be a good time to do it and I’m pleased with the amount of food we were able to collect for those in need.” The winners were the Admitting/Switchboard department and they collected almost half of the total themselves. They approached local businesses to help and were grateful of the results. Ross staff want to thank the following for their generous donations: McKague’s Foodland, Zellers, National Grocers, Food Basics, Torrey Dale Farms and Lindsay Dodge. RMH hopes to make this annual staff event to celebrate Valentine’ Day. |
