Ross Memorial Hospital is very pleased to welcome Carol Smith Romeril to its senior administrative team as Vice President, Patient Care and Chief Nursing Officer, effective December 27, 2004.

Carol Smith Romeril has a wide range of experience that includes working as a Hospital Consultant for the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, serving as a Senior Planner with the District Health Council and most recently she was the Program Director for the RMH Continuing Care Program. She holds a Bachelor of Nursing Science degree and a Master of Health Service Administration.

“I am looking forward to working with staff and physicians and other colleagues in this new role,” says Smith Romeril. “I was very fortunate to join the Ross Team two years ago when we were preparing for the move to the beautiful new Continuing Care wing. It has been a wonderful experience leading teams to enhance patient service programs and to bring visions to reality. There are more visions to reach for and I am very pleased to be able to continue to working toward our future with the Ross Team.”

Ross Memorial Hospital conducted an extensive, national search for an individual who is an experienced patient care executive with an outstanding track record of accomplishments, leadership, facilitation, and implementation of progressive and new initiatives.

“The search lasted about six months. However, when we were recruiting for this position, our standards and requirements were for someone not only with very strong management skills and experience in a community hospital setting, but we were looking for the right person; someone who could be a mentor to and a motivator of staff; someone with excellent interpersonal, communication and people skills,” explains Anthony Vines, President and CEO, of Ross Memorial Hospital. “We are exceptionally pleased that the successful candidate and someone with these unique qualities, was recruited from within our Hospital.”

“We are excited to have attracted Carol Smith Romeril to this leadership role at the Ross,” continues Mr. Vines. “She has experience in health care administration, strategic and operational management, and the delivery of clinical services. Throughout her career, she has held senior positions with a focus on hospital services, community health, teaching and health promotion. She is a team player with a proven ability to work well with administrative and professional staff, including nurses, physicians, technologists, therapists and all other staff. We are confident that Carol will contribute significantly to the challenges ahead, including the opening of the major new services and programs, as well as other initiatives and developments, which are soon to be underway.”
