Lindsay, January 21, 2004
Effective Thursday, January 22nd at 6:00 a.m., the new section of the Emergency Department will open its doors and be operational. The plan is to move patients from the current Emergency to the new between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. The Emergency Department will continue to provide full emergency services to all patients. The current Emergency Department will be closed for renovations as part of Phase II of the Hospital’s capital expansion project. Upon completion of these renovations, the two sections of the Emergency Department will merge and become one complete unit. Phase II of the expansion project also includes the expansion of the outpatient centre/ambulatory procedures area (APA), the construction of the Mental Health unit, a new inpatient unit, a new suite for the CT scanner, the expansion of the cafeteria, and performing seismic upgrades to the existing building.
It is anticipated that this final phase, and therefore, the entire expansion project, will be completed this summer. |
