RMH Continues with SARS Screening and Precautions PDF  | Print |
Lindsay, May 26, 2003

Ross Memorial Hospital continues to screen all patients, visitors, staff and physicians at both the Kent Street/Emergency entrance and the main Angeline Street entrance, as per recommendations issued from the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care this past weekend.

All persons entering the Hospital will be required to respond to questions on the SARS screening tool, which now includes whether or not the respondent has recently been at the St. John’s Rehabilitation Hospital, North York General Hospital, Scarborough General Hospital or St. Michael’s Hospital (neurosurgery unit).

Entranceway restrictions remain in effect. Emergency patients are to use the Kent Street entrance only; all other patients, visitors, staff and physicians will continue to use the main Angeline Street entrance.

Visiting hours will remain from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at this time with only two visitors per patient permitted at any one time. Patients arriving at the Emergency Department are asked to come on their own, unless they require assistance or are critically ill. Children coming to the Emergency Department are allowed one parent or guardian to accompany them. However, visitors who are feeling ill are advised not to visit the Hospital.

“Ross Memorial Hospital is dedicated to its patients, visitors, staff, physicians and volunteers and will do everything possible to ensure their safety and protection,” said Anthony Vines, President/CEO.

“As a result of recent reports from the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care regarding further probable/suspect SARS patients in Toronto,” Vines continued, “Ross Memorial has implemented precautions again and will remain vigilant in our attempt to help ensure that our Hospital remains free of the virus. We will again appreciate the co-operation and understanding of everyone entering Ross Memorial Hospital.”
