Lindsay, May 24, 2003

In response to new recommendations from the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, screening of all persons, i.e. staff, physicians, volunteers, patients and visitors, has been reinstated at Ross Memorial Hospital effective today, May 24, 2003.

All persons entering the Hospital will be requested to respond to questions on the SARS screening tool, which now include whether or not the respondent has recently been at the St. John’s Rehabilitation or North York General Hospitals in Toronto.

Visiting hours will remain from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at this time with only two visitors per patient permitted at any one time.

“Ross Memorial Hospital is maintaining its commitment to do everything possible to ensure the safety and protection of all patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and visitors”, said Anthony Vines, President/CEO. “It is very important that we implement these precautions again and remain vigilant as a result of the recent reports from the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care regarding further probable/suspect SARS patients in Toronto. We will again appreciate the co-operation and understanding of everyone entering the Hospital”.
