Holiday Season Lights up at Ross Memorial PDF  | Print |
Lindsay, November 26, 2002

Today, at 5:30 p.m., the holiday season will shine at Ross Memorial Hospital. Patients from both the Continuing Care and the Long-Term Care Units will participate in a Tree Lighting Ceremony on the first floor of the Hospital.

The tree is set-up on the roof terrace on the first floor of the Hospital across from the elevators. The lights are strung and ready to shine. This year, Wendy Brown, a patient at the Ross, will officially start the ceremony as she flips the switch bringing the tree to life. After the tree lighting, carols will be sung, led by Brian Eberts (maintenance, RMH), Roger McCrindle (retired, RMH) and Heather Newman (volunteer, RMH). Refreshments will also be served. Ruth Eberts, a schoolteacher, will play the keyboards for the evening.

"This is a fun event that brings smiles to everyone's faces," explains Barb Hilts, Recreation Therapist and co-organizer of the tree lighting. "It is a wonderful opportunity for us to share and celebrate the holiday season with our patients and their families."

"The Hospital has done this every year for over ten years," says Melissa Reesor, Recreation Therapist and co-organizer of the event, "and it is always delightful to see everyone singing and smiling. We always have great participation from patients and family members, as well as staff, nurses and volunteers."
