On Wednesday, November 20th, Ross Memorial Hospital will be celebrating its centennial with a re-enactment of the original opening ceremony, as well as formal speeches and presentations.
New Location for Re-enactment
The re-enactment of the opening ceremony will take place on November 20th at 3:30 p.m. on the porch of the Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation, which is located at 2 Jane Street. Mr. and Mrs. James Ross, as well as Hospital Chairman J.D. Flavelle and Victoria County Warden will be arriving by horse and carriage.
Formal Speeches and Presentations
From 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., there will be speeches and formal presentations held at Lindsay Collegiate and Vocational Institute (LCVI), which is where the official speeches and presentations took place in 1902. Participating in the speeches will be John O'Reilly, MP, Victoria-Haliburton-Brock; Chris Hodgson, MPP, Victoria-Haliburton-Brock; and Art Truax, Mayor, City of Kawartha Lakes.
From 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., there will be an open house at LCVI, where everyone can take the opportunity to view historical displays. Refreshments will also be served.
Horse and Carriage Rides
Horse and carriage rides will be available at 15-minute intervals throughout the festivities at LCVI. Anyone who is interested is welcome to board a horse and carriage between 4:00 p.m. and 6:45 p.m., free of charge.
