Lindsay, January 25, 2002
Ross Memorial is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Ron Sears as the new Chief-of-Medical Staff at the Hospital, effective March 1, 2002. Dr. Sears will be replacing Dr. Sheila-Mae Young who has served as Chief-of-Medical Staff at Ross Memorial since January 1, 1999. Dr. Sears first moved to Lindsay in 1968, started up a family practice and started working at Ross Memorial Hospital. In 1986, he accepted the position of Vice President, Medical at the Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver and moved to British Columbia. He moved to Toronto in 1990 after accepting the position of Vice President, Medical Services at Toronto East General Hospital. In 1993, he returned to Lindsay and took over the practice of Dr. Peter Gill who was retiring. "Both positions at Lions Gate Hospital and at Toronto East General Hospital provided me with the opportunity to develop and strengthen my experience in medical administration and hospital management," explains Dr. Sears. "I enjoyed these roles, however, always felt that I would return to Lindsay at some time. The opportunity to return came up in 1993 and I made the move back into practice. I've been back for nine years and I'm here to stay." Currently, Dr. Sears is the Vice President of the Medical Staff and serves on Ross Memorial Hospital's Board of Governors. He has also represented the medical staff on the Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation's Board of Directors for more than five years.
"We are very pleased with the appointment of Dr. Ron Sears to the position of Chief-of-Medical Staff," says Anthony Vines, President and CEO, Ross Memorial Hospital. "He has significant experience as a medical practitioner, and in medical administration and governance of hospitals. Dr. Sears is a respected member of this community and works well with our medical team here at the Ross. We are all looking forward to working with Dr. Sears over the next few years." "These are interesting and dynamic times in health care and exciting times for Ross Memorial, especially with the upcoming expansion project and all of the Hospital's upcoming major developments. I am looking forward to working on new programs and new initiatives and working with everyone to make it all happen." Dr. Ron Sears and his wife, Sue, have five children, with the youngest, Chris, living at home. Sue has worked at Ross Memorial as Head Nurse of the Intensive Care Unit and as a nursing supervisor. Their daughter, Janie, is a registered nurse and is currently working on the surgical-paediatric floor at the Hospital. |
