"A New Day is Dawning"
The Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation is pleased to launch the annual Spring Appeal. The Appeal letter, which is mailed to every household in the City of Kawartha Lakes, shares the story of the Murray family - in particular, Alana Murray.
Alana Murray is only 18 years old, but she has a unique understanding of the importance of Diagnostic Imaging tools, such as CT scans, when it comes to treating injury and illness. It was a CT scan at RMH that identified an AVM (arterial venous malformation) in Alana's brain a year ago. And it was diagnostic imaging technology that assisted physicians in Toronto to plan and perform the surgery that successfully removed the AVM.
Now, Alana and her family are sharing their story in hopes of inspiring others to help purchase a new CT for the Ross Memorial - to ensure physicians have the most detailed view inside their patients bodies, giving people like Alana the quality of care they deserve.
Erin Coons, Executive Director of the RMH Foundation, says the goal of the Spring Appeal is to raise $80,000 to help purchase the new CT unit. "We're so pleased to have the support of Alana and her family. Their story is truly inspiring. A new day really is dawning at the Ross."

"On the Horizon"
Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, the Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation has reached its fundraising target of $2.2 million for the "On the Horizon" Dialysis campaign. The announcement was made at the Grand Opening celebration on August 28th.
"It's been wonderful watching the "On the Horizon" campaign gain speed," said Dom Fox, co-chair of the Dialysis campaign. "We've witnessed an overwhelming response from individuals, businesses, churches and community groups, from every corner of the City of Kawartha Lakes. And we're thrilled today to be able to announce that Dialysis is no longer "On the Horizon". As of today, we've raised just over our fundraising goal of $2.2 million! I'd like to thank each and every person who contributed to this great cause. Thank you for continuing to support our Hospital."
Together, we brought these vital services into the community where it's most needed!
