Ross Memorial Hospital recently held their 3rd annual “Valentine’s Day Food Challenge” in honour of this special day. A challenge was issued to all RMH departments to collect non-perishable food items with the winning department having the honour of presenting the food to representatives of Kawartha Lakes Food Source. We wanted to do this at Christmas, but it gets too busy for our staff here at that time,” said Julia Bryan, Coordinator of Employee and Community Relations. “Valentine’s Day seemed to be the perfect time to open our hearts and our cupboards.” The winners were the Cardiac Rehabilitation team, and most departments increased their amount of food collected over last year. Each year, we see more and more collected. The staff have a great time decorating the boxes and a fun rivalry has developed between departments as they each strive to be the winners,” added Bryan. -30-
