Lindsay, February 22, 2007
In 2002, TD Canada Trust (Lindsay), generously pledged a $30,000 TD Grant in Medical Excellence to the Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation. Each year, the Foundation receives $6,000 to be disbursed to medial staff to upgrade their skills through an educational course or conference. This is the final year of the program. “We are especially thankful for the generous donation from TD Canada Trust towards medical education,” says Erin Coons, Executive Director Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation. “By investing in our greatest asset, our human resources, they are helping to ensure the continued success of Ross Memorial Hospital.” Eligible candidates provide a selection committee with written evidence confirming their enrolment in a program, and a letter stating why they would be better able to serve their community with the additional training they would receive. Recipients of the Grant must be willing to make a commitment to Ross Memorial Hospital and continue their work at the Hospital for two years following successful completion of their program. This year, the Foundation distributed the $1000 grant to six staff members. Nancy Atkins and Cheryl Harris are currently enrolled to acquire their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN). Atkins is studying part-time while working full-time as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department, and Harris works part-time as an RN in the Emergency Department.
