Lindsay, July 10, 2007
The Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation is pleased to accept the first of two installments totaling $7,500 from the Kiwanis Club of Lindsay. The money will be used to purchase a new obstetrical probe for the Hospital’s Diagnostic Imaging Department. Erin Coons, Executive Director of the RMH Foundation accepted the cheque from Lyn Edwards and Karen Dunn of the Kiwanis Club. The new obstetrical probe will be used for obstetrical, gynecology and abdominal work. Ultrasound probes send and receive sound waves. Director of Diagnostic Imaging, Rick Heroux says staff is looking at purchasing a probe called a "curved array matrix 7”. It has a smaller convex contact surface than other models, so it fits better on the abdomen and pelvis and allows for a wider field of view than the regular linear array configuration. This provides better, more uniform resolution, superior image quality, and greater penetration of the acoustic beam. The Kiwanis Club of Lindsay chose this piece of equipment out of a list of needs provided by the Hospital Foundation. Club President Lyn Edwards says the obstetrical probe was a logical choice because the last donation from the club was a fetal monitor. “The two seemed to fit together,” says Edwards. The five members of the Kiwanis Club raised the funds through their Annual Fall Show held at the Academy Theatre. They also raise revenue through the sale of Nevada tickets.
