Lindsay, July 31, 2007
The Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation is pleased to accept a donation of $3,050.00 from the Order of the Eastern Star, Coronation Chapter #218. These funds will help the Foundation reach its Spring Appeal goal of $100,000. The money will be used to buy specialized equipment for the permanent Dialysis Unit.
Shirley and Sidney Thacker, worthy matron and patron of the Order of the Eastern Star, presented the cheque to Erin Coons, Executive Director of the RMH Foundation, on Tuesday, July 31st.
“We have a member taking dialysis”, said Shirley Thacker. “When we knew he was taking dialysis, but he couldn’t get it in Lindsay, we decided we would put part of our project funds toward the dialysis unit.”
The Chapter raised the funds by holding barbecues and hosting a Lucky Draw for a limited edition print. There are 85 members of the Coronation Chapter #218, who live in Lindsay and the surrounding district. The Order of the Eastern Star is comprised of both men and women, with links to the Masons. The Order was created by Master Mason Dr. Robert Morris in 1867. Since that time the fraternal organization has been dedicated to improving its home communities.
