Lindsay Rotary is "Caring for Tomorrow" PDF  | Print |

Lindsay, August 28, 2007

The Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation is pleased to accept the final instalment of the Lindsay Rotary Club’s “Caring for Tomorrow” pledge. The Rotary Club pledged $75,000 in 2001, when the hospital was planning its expansion. Today, Rotary president Lynda Rickard presented Foundation Executive Director Erin Coons with a cheque for $15,000, fulfilling that promise.

The Rotary Club’s donation was geared toward the hospital’s new Activity Room. This room is used on a daily basis by patients, their families and staff at the hospital. The Activity Room is a bright, beautiful room with an endless list of uses. Patients in the Continuing Care Wing go there for meals, and recreational activities. It contains a piano, television, fish tank and various games and puzzles. Patients often use the room for family functions so they can join in celebrations without leaving the hospital. In fact, the doors in the Activity Room are big enough to wheel beds through, so bed-ridden patients can take part in gatherings, too. It’s also used for church services, including memorial and bereavement ceremonies.

“We continue to recognize the importance of the hospital to Lindsay and the surrounding district,” says Rickard. “We’re happy to be a part of this successful initiative.”
