Every year, the president of the Dunsford Lions Club chooses a pet project the club will support through fundraising. This year, Cheryl Burrage has chosen to Ross Memorial Hospital’s permanent Dialysis Unit as a project worthy of the Lions’ hard work.
“ It’s a project close to my heart,” Burrage says, “kidney disease is hereditary in my family.” Today, Burrage presented a cheque for $5000 on behalf of the Lions Club to Erin Coons, the Executive Director of the RMH Foundation.
The Foundation kicked off its “On the Horizon” Campaign on October 11th, during the Hospital’s Groundbreaking Ceremony. The Foundation’s goal is to raise $2.2 million to complete and equip the permanent Dialysis Unit. The total cost of the project is $6.5 million.
Currently, 24 dialysis patients are receiving their treatments locally at the Ross’ temporary Dialysis Unit. When the permanent facility is complete in approximately one year, it will accommodate 90 patients.
