Today, Ross Memorial Hospital honoured physicians at the 2007 Medical Staff Appreciation ceremony. Physicians were recognized for their years of service, dedication and commitment to Ross Memorial Hospital. This year, there were 10 members of medical staff celebrating milestones in their years of service, with 5 physicians receiving recognition for over 25 years of service. 5 years of service: Dr. Joan Don, Dr. Les Summers, Dr. Dawn Reid 10 years of service: Dr. Temba M'Cwabeni 15 years of service: Dr. David Fiddler 25 years of service: Dr. Peter Anderson, Dr. Maria Cescon 30 years of service: Dr. Jim Cooper 45 years of service: Dr. Gord Lindsay 55 years of service: Dr. Hugh Davies Also acknowledged at the ceremony were those physicians who mentored medical students, participated with Rural Medicine Week or assisted with the 2007 Health Professionals’ Recruitment tour. The James Ross Award of Excellence – Physician Recipient was also announced. Dr.Sheila-Mae Young was nominated by her peers for this prestigious annual award that recognizes staff, physicians and volunteers who go above and beyond in their duties at Ross Memorial Hospital. Dr. Young’s nomination included the following comment: “Although her contributions to the Hospital are impressive enough, they pale in comparison to the personal qualities that she exhibits in her relationship with her patients, her colleagues, other fellow workers, other volunteers, and, of course, her family. Most notable are her high moral and ethical standards. She works with people honestly but effectively. She is very generous and always considerate of her fellow man.” |
