Representatives from the Ross Memorial Hospital gathered together on Thursday to present a cheque to United Way in the amount of $22,057.26.  This amount represented funds raised by the employees during the United Way campaign, as many of them enrolled in payroll deductions and participated in special events throughout the year.

The campaign was co-chaired by Sheryl Wallis and Wanda Goard of the hospital. The employees were proud to announce that they surpassed last year's mark of just over $18,000.  "This year our goal was to raise $20,000 for the United Way Campaign for the first time ever and we are very excited to have surpassed it," said Wallis.  "We could not have done this without the support of all the staff here.  They have always supported the events and fundraisers at the hospital 110%.  United Way touches so many people and all of us recognize that we have friends, neighbors and family who access United Way programs."

United Way Campaign Coordinator, Andrew Oliver added, "The employees at the Ross Memorial Hospital have done a terrific job at exceeding their goal for the United Way campaign.  Our sincere appreciation goes out to Sheryl and Wanda who did such an amazing job at the coordination of the workplace campaign and to all of the employees who contributed.  Over 200 employees contributed a total of $16,000 through payroll deductions and one-time donations to support our agencies.  An additional $6,000 was raised through a variety of special events such as: employee barbeques, theatre trips, the fudge bake-off, and the chili cook-off."  Ms. Wallis added, "We also appreciate the support of the community in our cook-off whether it is fudge or chili."

"Every year we try to think of different ways to involve the staff in fundraising.  It will be no different next year as we plan to have more exciting events!  We appreciate the support of the United Way staff as well as the hospital staff who have always been there to lend a hand whenever we need it," said Wallis and Goard.
