The Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation is delighted to update the community on the progress of the "On the Horizon" Dialysis fundraising campaign. "Thanks to the generosity of our donors, this campaign has been gaining momentum from day one," said Erin Coons, Executive Director of the RMH Foundation. "Now, we're pleased to announce that we've almost met our target. Ninety per cent of the funds have been raised!"
John Bennett, the co-chair of the Foundation's Major Gifts Committee, joined RMH President Brian Payne to unveil the latest total: $1,982,183.
The community's share of the total cost of the dialysis project is $2.2 million. "We're so close now," said Bennett. "People in this community recognize that dialysis is needed here. Almost everyone knows somebody who has had to travel out of the area for their dialysis treatments. Soon we'll be able to accommodate all of our dialysis patients right here at home. Imagine it - no more traveling through every kind of weather three times a week."
"The progress the Foundation is making with this fundraising campaign is in line with the progress being made outside in our construction zone," Brian Payne said. "Every day, the Dialysis Unit takes shape. Right now, the workers are incorporating all of the internal systems that are required to operate the dialysis equipment. And despite the delays caused by the excessive snow we received this winter, we still intend to welcome patients into the new Dialysis Unit in September."
The 15-station Dialysis Unit will accommodate 90 patients when it's operating at full capacity.
