The Ross Memorial Hospital is pleased to be one of six workplaces in the City of Kawartha Lakes to receive a "Healthy Workplace Award" from the Health for Life team at the local Health Unit.
The awards are given to organizations that have effectively implemented healthy workplace practices or policies to improve the work environment for employees.
In the past year, the Hospital has established a Health & Wellness Committee which initiated a Workplace Wellness Fair in the fall. During the fair, employees were encouraged to fill out surveys, indicating what healthy initiatives would interest them, such as the Stairway to Health challenge, which involves tracking flights of stairs employees climb until they've virtually climbed to the top of the CN Tower.
The Health & Wellness Committee created a logo which is now being used to identify the healthiest food choices in the Hospital cafeteria.
Being a "Workplace of Choice" is one of the Hospital's four Strategic Directions.
