The Medical Program Inpatient Unit is located on the 3rd floor of the Ross Memorial Hospital. The expanded Hospital provides 30 additional inpatient spaces to assist when the Hospital is filled to capacity and patients must wait on stretchers or in a temporary overflow unit until an inpatient bed becomes available.

The Program supports patients by providing a multi-disciplinary approach to care. As a patient focused unit we respect the patient’s confidentiality, rights, and choices.

All patients requiring medical care can be admitted to the medical program. The most common diagnosis admitted to the unit are: acute coronary syndromes (heart attacks, angina), congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), diabetes, and pneumonia.

Special features of the Medical Unit include:

  • All Registered Nurses are trained to interpret telemetry readings
  • A complete physiotherapy and occupational therapy gym on the unit
  • Special pieces of equipment in the unit for our patients that require barriatric support
  • Health Care team members include: physicians, nurses, dietitians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and speech pathologists.
