The Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation is grateful for the generous support of the Lindsay Lions Club. Today, Marilynne Golden, President of the Lindsay Lions, presented a cheque for $5000 to Erin Coons, Executive Director of the RMH Foundation and Veronica Nelson, Director of Diagnostic Imaging.lindsay_lions_mammo_005.jpg

"The Lindsay Lions have always been such wonderful supporters of the Hospital," said Coons. "They continue to show that the Lions are committed to local healthcare."

Marilynne Golden says purchasing new digital mammography equipment for the Hospital is a very worthwhile cause. "I know how important it is to have mammogram exams frequently," Golden said. "Our members discussed it and we decided we'd like to be a part of this project."

A mammogram is an x-ray of a breast, one which allows radiologists to see problem areas which could be cancerous. Using conventional film-screen mammography, these tiny abnormalities can be difficult to see, especially in younger women with dense breast tissue. Digital mammography provides a clearer picture, even through dense breast tissue.
