The Lions' president, Susan Tate, presented the cheque to Erin Coons, Executive Director of the Foundation. Tate was accompanied by fellow Lions including her husband, Barry Tate, and Doug and Joan Cox.

The Fenelon Falls & District Lions Club has been an ongoing supporter of the Ross Memorial Hospital. "We live here, so we like to support the local hospital," Susan Tate said. "We also have four women in the Club, and mammograms are near and dear to our hearts."

"We're fortunate to have the loyal support of the Fenelon Falls & District Lions Club," said Coons. "Their fundraising efforts will help the Hospital to purchase better mammography equipment, which benefits both men and women in the community."

A mammogram is an x-ray of a breast, one which allows radiologists to see problem areas which could be cancerous. Using conventional film-screen mammography, these tiny abnormalities can be difficult to see, especially in younger women with dense breast tissue. Digital mammography provides a clearer picture, even through dense breast tissue.
