Fundraise for RMH

A third party event, or FUN-raising event, as we like to call them, is a fundraising event held by an individual, group, company or organization to support the work of the Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation. The Foundation depends on the generosity and hard work of third party event planners to help us achieve our goal of supporting the capital and equipment needs of the Hospital.

Getting started

If you’d like to plan a third party event, please contact the Foundation office, as each idea must be approved prior to the event. Once your event is approved, we’ll discuss:

• the appropriate use the RMHF logo on your materials
• the eligibility of tax receipts you would like to offer
• appropriate sponsorship prospects
• the licensing of gaming events such as lotteries and raffles

Build a Legacy

"Planned giving" is a term that refers to the many ways you can structure your charitable gift to maximize tax benefits and achieve personal financial goals while giving vital support to a cause you believe in.

Each year, Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation is grateful to receive bequests from the estates of people who really cared for this community. We take these estate gifts very seriously. After all, by being included in a person's will or estate plan, an individual is considering us as a part of their family. This is a great honour. We’re committed to ensuring that this generosity makes an important difference to local health care.

There are many ways to give that will best meet your situation and your goals:

An outright gift of cash is the simplest way to give. Your gift goes to work immediately, meeting current needs. You receive a donation receipt for the full amount you give, resulting in immediate tax savings for you.

When you make a gift of appreciated stocks to the RMHF, you do not incur capital gains taxes and you receive a charitable receipt that can be used to offset taxes for up to five years.

A charitable bequest can be as simple as a sentence in your will which specifies a sum of money. You may designate a particular purpose for your bequest.

A gift of life insurance can provide a significant future gift to the RMHF at a very modest, present cost to you. You may also give the death benefit of an existing policy simply by naming RMHF as the beneficiary.

Some planned gifts "pay you back" by paying you income or allowing you to enjoy the use of your property even after you have given it to the Foundation. Such gifts are:

• gift annuities
• charitable remainder trusts
• and gifts of residual interest

Gifts in Memory

When we lose someone dear to us, it can be comforting to share stories of happy times, and to remember the things that made our loved ones so special. Often, we want to do something special in their memory.

With the kind cooperation of local funeral homes, the Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation’s memorial giving program allows family and friends to commemorate the lives that have touched them.

When you give a gift to Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation in memory of a loved one, you may choose to direct your gift to one of our programs or campaigns that best reflects the wishes of the individual. Please feel free to contact us to learn more about our current projects.

The Foundation hopes that the memorial giving program assists families, knowing that their kindness will help Ross Memorial continue to respond to local health care needs.

The RMH Foundation gratefully receives hundreds of memorial donations annually. These gifts help us support Ross Memorial Hospital through the purchase of new medical technology, and by improving our patient care facilities.

The Foundation offers its sincere thanks to all who have remembered a loved one through a memorial gift, and also to the area funeral homes who support us by receiving these gifts on our behalf.

Gifts to Celebrate an Occasion

A celebration gift to the Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation expresses to others how much you care. With a celebration gift, you can recognize a loved one’s birthday, anniversary or milestone event, and benefit the community through enhanced patient care at the Hospital, too!

How it works

Simply make a donation to the Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation, and let us know what you’re celebrating. We will send a special card to your loved one recognizing your contribution in his or her honour. We’ll also issue you a charitable tax receipt and mail it to you with our thanks. Your loved one’s name will also appear on our e-newsletter, our receipt inserts, and in the local newspaper.

Not a traditional occasion? Not a worry! Give us the details, and we’ll be happy to custom design your special card. With celebration giving, you can give the gift of good health. What could be more special than that?
