Welcome to the Foundation Update - the Foundation's monthly e-newsletter. Here you'll find the latest information on our current fundraising campaigns, how your generous donations are helping the Hospital to provide the best patient care, and what opportunities are coming soon.

Giving Thanks for Exceptional Care

The fall is a time for taking stock and giving thanks. Here at the Foundation, we have much to be thankful for, namely, a generous community and a state-of-the-art hospital.

When our patients and their families want to say thanks, they often do it through a donation. Others choose to make a legacy gift.

Each year, the RMH Foundation is grateful to receive bequests from the estates of people who truly cared for this community. We take these estate gifts very seriously. After all, by being included in a person's will or estate plan, an individual is considering us as a part of their family. This is a great honour.

We’re committed to ensuring that this generosity makes an important difference to local health care.

If you would like to leave a legacy through a bequest to the hospital, we'd be happy to answer your questions. Please call the Foundation office at 705-328-6186.

Congratulations!

The Foundation sends its heartfelt congratulations to the RMH Inpatient Rehabilitation team for ranking the highest in the province in overall patient satisfaction.

In early September, the Ontario Hospital Association and NRC Picker, a national research corporation, released a report that ranked hospitals based on information received through patient satisfaction surveys.

While patient satisfaction surveys include dozens of questions, the report focuses on the responses to two areas in particular: “Overall, how would you rate the care you received at the hospital?” and “Would you recommend this hospital to your family or friends?”

Ross Memorial’s inpatient rehabilitation program tied with Providence Care in Kingston as the highest ranked hospital in the province in the category of “overall satisfaction”. Both hospitals’ results showed that 100% of patients rated their overall care as good, very good or excellent.

In the “would you recommend” category, more than 96% of RMH patients who responded to the survey indicated that they would “definitely recommend” the hospital’s rehabilitation care to friends and family.

“We're so pleased for the Inpatient Rehabilitation team that the incredible work they do is being recognized on a provincial scale," said Erin Coons, Executive Director of the RMH Foundation. "They're not just helping their patients; it's this kind of exceptional care that encourages patients and their families to make a gift to the hospital once they return home and are feeling well. And those gifts help to purchase much needed medical equipment and fund capital projects at the hospital. That's how good patient care leads to even better patient care.”

The purpose of the report is to highlight excellent performance based on patient perceptions and to identify those hospitals that have good practices in place that may be of interest to other hospitals.

The Foundation is grateful for the generous gifts made...
