Central East LHIN seeking input on 'Patients First' Discussion Paper

On December 17, 2015, the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (the ministry) launched a discussion paper titled Patients First: A Proposal to Strengthen Patient-Centred Health Care in Ontario. The discussion paper outlines proposed changes for the health system.

The paper proposes that Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs) be made responsible for home care, the planning and monitoring of primary care, and would have improved linkages with population health planning.

The ministry and the Central East LHIN are currently seeking feedback on the discussion paper by meeting with local residents, francophone and indigenous stakeholders, primary care providers, public health partners, patients and caregivers and health service providers.

To learn more about the proposed changes, please visit the Central East LHIN website – www.centraleastlhin.on.ca –– and click on the “Patients First Proposal” button to download the discussion paper and complete one of the surveys directed to health service providers, patients and caregivers or local residents. Additionally, the ministry is seeking feedback via health.feedback@ontario.ca.

Patients, caregivers and local residents are also invited to RVSP to attend one of the four local consultation sessions being held across the LHIN at the end of February to provide their feedback.
