Emergency Power Shutdown at RMH

Lindsay, September 2, 2003

As part of the Hospital’s major capital expansion project, a shutdown of the Hospital’s emergency power will be necessary on Wednesday, September 3rd, from 10:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight for the East Wing of the Hospital; and on Thursday, September 4th from 2:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. for the West Wing. The shutdown will allow for a switchover of the emergency power system from the existing generators to the new generator.

During the two-hour Thursday morning interval, a number of key areas of the Hospital, such as Diagnostic Imaging, Lab, Operating Rooms, Recovery Rooms, and the Emergency Department, that are on the Hospital’s emergency power distribution system will undergo substantial restrictions in electrical power available to those areas.

“We have put in place a number of contingency plans to ensure that the impact of these necessary power shutdowns on patient care is minimized,” says Brian Payne, Chief Operating Officer, Ross Memorial Hospital. “There will, however, be an early morning two-hour time period on Thursday (2:00 a.m. – 4:00 a.m.) when operating rooms will not be available and the Emergency Department will have limited power.”
