Even before the Imagine the Future campaign was officially launched on November 15, 2010, donors were contacting the Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation, wanting to help. It’s that genuine interest in high quality healthcare that has made the Imagine the Future campaign a Grand Slam success.
Today, the Chair of the Imagine Campaign Cabinet, John Fox, thanked donors at a special recognition event. “When our local physicians tell patients that they need a scan to find out exactly what is hurting or making them feel sick, they don’t have to explain that it’s going to take four months to get an appointment in another region. That’s thanks to you.”
Since the Ross Memorial’s MRI service began in January 2011, the hospital has consistently had one of the lowest MRI wait times in the region.
MRI is the gold standard tool for locating tumours and for diagnosing diseases and injuries in soft tissues. The goal of the Imagine the Future campaign was to improve local patients’ access to advanced diagnostic technology by purchasing an MRI, a 128-slice CT scanner and redeveloping the Diagnostic Imaging department to accommodate the new equipment.
Thanks to contributions by individuals, businesses, churches, service groups, and schools, the RMH Foundation exceeded its campaign goal, raising $5,821,834.68. “Healthcare is a whole new ball game at the Ross Memorial Hospital now, with improved access to MRI and advanced CT,” said Fox. “I’d like to thank all of our donors for being the Most Valuable Players on our team. We truly couldn’t have done this without you.”

The RMH Auxiliary received special recognition, as the lead organizational donor of the Imagine the Future campaign, having pledged $750,000 over five years. Lead individual donors, Grant and Shirley Brayley and the late Robert and Shirley Bellamy received a special thank you, as well as employees of the hospital, who donated more than $124,000 through the “I imagine”
employee campaign.
Erik Ellis, Chair of the RMH Foundation Board of Directors expressed his gratitude to the entire community: “Thanks to you, we’ve knocked one out of the ballpark… Enjoy knowing that you hit the ball and touched them all.”
