RMH celebrates National Volunteer Week

RMH is blessed to have an incredibly talented and giving team of volunteers who love the Ross and want to help.

On the frontline, behind the scenes, and even from their homes, our volunteers put in tens of thousands of hours to enhance patients’ experiences, and to fundraise for medical equipment and capital projects.

More than 350 men, women and teens volunteer their time and talent in the following ways:

· Offering assistance at the Information Desk
· Operating the Reflections Gift Shop & Café
· Selling Nevada tickets at the HELPP Lottery Cart
· Encouraging donations during Tag Days
· Coordinating vendors in the main lobby
· Visiting with patients
· Knitting and sewing items for the Gift Shop and the Maternity Ward
· Bringing therapy dogs to visit patients
· Helping at Bingo events
· Bagging groceries at Food Basics
· Running raffles at Classics on Kent and Ribfest
· Organizing Bake Sales
· Purchasing and presenting Christmas gifts for patients
· Helping with in-hospital church service and recreation therapy

Volunteers not only help patients and hospital staff, they inspire others, such as Volunteen Hailey Brown:

“Being a volunteer has sure impacted the way I see the world now. I am a teen volunteer in the ER department. I've learned so much over the last couple years and I am now pursuing a career in the medical field. I love the Ross Memorial and all the staff inside and outside who work hard to make everyone's dreaded hospital visit a pleasant one. You meet so many new people and make so many new life friends.”
