Donations to Appeal will benefit “Imagine the Future” capital campaign.

LINDSAY, April 20th, 2011 – Dr. David Kazhila and Dr. Mario Voros are inviting donors to be “Partners – For Life”, as the Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation officially launches its Spring Appeal. Drs Kazhila and Voros themselves partnered with the Foundation, to prepare the Spring Appeal letters, which describe the importance of a new service at Ross Memorial Hospital.
Thanks to the advanced capabilities of our new 128-slice CT scanner, there’s a new
tool in the physicians’ arsenal at RMH that can help detect or rule out heart diseases
at a crucial stage. It’s called Cardiac CT Angiography, and it’s used to image the hearts of low to intermediate risk patients to rule out blockages or disease before patients must resort to an invasive procedure.
“Cardiac CT Angiography provides another level of cardiac investigation,” says Dr. Voros, “much like echocardiograms and stress testing, it gives us another way to assess our patients’ hearts. There are a number of advantages – not only can we now prevent patients from undergoing invasive procedures when they’re not needed, but we’re reducing waiting times for the high risk patients who really do need cardiac intervention such as conventional angiogram.”
“Dr. Voros and I aren’t the only partners in this investigative team,” said Dr. Kazhila. “There are many others we rely upon to provide our patients with the best care. Without the exceptional support of local donors, the Ross Memorial wouldn’t have these diagnostic tools that are already impacting our patients’ lives.”
The Appeal letters are being delivered throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes. Contributions to the Appeal will help the RMH Foundation achieve its fundraising goal of $5.8 million – the cost of the redevelopment of the Diagnostic Imaging department and the purchase of the MRI and new CT scanner.
