Rural Roots Gardens celebrates 5 years of fundraising

Near perfect weather has contributed to an explosion of colour at Rural Roots Gardens on Kawartha Lakes Road 36 south of Bobcaygeon, where the team is preparing for its 5th annual Daylily Festival.

The Festival is a fundraiser for the Ross Memorial Hospital. Each year, Rural Roots’ owner, Kelly Jones, chooses a department of the hospital or a campaign to support. This year, she has chosen the Dialysis Unit again, in memory of her father, John Eyers, who died of kidney disease.

Rural Roots Gardens features 750 varieties of daylilies, 500 of which are available for sale. During the Daylily Festival, each time a daylily is sold, $2 will be donated to the Dialysis Unit. Customer donations will also be accepted.

The Daylily Festival runs July 21st—22nd and July 28th—29th. Greenthumbs can come early and preview the gardens, or view them online at www.ruralrootsgardens.com.

Over the past four years, the Daylily Festival has helped the Dialysis Unit, Palliative Care, the Digital Mammography program, the Imagine campaign, and the purchase of physiotherapy equipment.
