Who We Are

Ross Memorial Hospital Auxiliary has provided exemplary volunteer services to help hospital staff, patients, and their families since 1904.

Auxiliary volunteers come from all walks of life, and range from teens, to adults, to seniors. You'll see us all around the hospital, from the Information Desk, to Emergency, to Surgical Paediatrics . . . just look for our blue vests.

We operate the Reflections Gift Shop and the Cafe, the HELPP lottery, and the patients' tuck cart, and we also actively raise funds to support the purchase of hospital equipment and other Ross Memorial special projects.

In March of 2009, we adopted Values that articulate our beliefs about our important personal and organizational responsibilities. We grouped these beliefs under six headings: Spirit, Communications, Recognition, Community, Ethics and Safety.

Our organizational chart in printable pdf format details the Auxiliary structure and gives you an idea of the diversity of volunteer opportunities available.

In 2011, we've embarked on an exciting new challenge -- raising $750,000 for new MRI equipment at Ross.

The Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation is turning to the community's help to realize its $5.8 million campaign goal to redevelop its diagnostic imaging department and purchase a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine.

Hospital CEO and president Brian Payne said a new 128-slice CT scan will replace the current four-slice unit. The enhanced quality will lead to more definitive diagnostic outcomes and increased applications with less radiation exposure. The renovations are needed to address, not only the new equipment, but improve patient services. When the hospital's diagnostic imaging department was first configured, about 15,000 tests were done annually. Today, roughly 75,000 tests are done, including the use of ultrasound which was added and accounts for close to 10,000 tests each year.
