March 12, 2018 - The Ross Memorial Hospital team is pleased to welcome Kate Farnell to the role of Vice President/Chief Financial Officer — a role she also performs at Peterborough Regional Health Centre. Kate is a Chartered Accountant with a Master’s degree in business and ten years of financial management experience in the public and private sectors.

“We’re happy to bring Kate on board as our new VP/CFO,” said Dr. Bert Lauwers, RMH President and CEO. “Kate’s expertise and experience will complement the talents of our current leadership team and help us navigate the fiscal challenges we face.

We’re also pleased that this new shared VP/CFO role will further strengthen our close partnership with PRHC. Key among our Hospital’s strategic directions is to champion partnerships and safeguard financial health. The Ross Memorial has been integrating leadership roles for several years. It’s an approach that has proven to optimize our shared services while reducing costs. RMH strives to enhance patient care, improve the quality of care, and ensure sustainability of services into the future.”

Kate has held her current Associate Vice President and CFO role with PRHC since April 2017, and previously held the roles of Director, Finance and Controller with the Health Centre. In her current and previous roles, Kate has overseen financial reporting and budget processes, as well as payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and treasury functions.

In this new shared role with RMH, Kate will provide financial leadership and oversight for both organizations.

Kate completed a Bachelor of Science at Queen’s University before going on to earn a Master’s of Management and Professional Accounting at the Rotman School of Management, University
of Toronto.

Kate Farnell begins her new role at the Ross Memorial Hospital today. Kate takes over for the former long-time VP/CFO Leo Boyle, who passed away in October. The RMH team wishes to thank Chris Eivers, who filled the position as Interim VP/CFO until the position could be filled on a permanent basis.
